Clean Water. Safe Sanitation. Health That Lasts.

Project WASH delivers life-saving water and hygiene solutions where they’re needed most.

The Case for Clean Water,
Sanitation & Hygiene

Globally, over 700,000 people die each year from waterborne diseases caused by unsafe water, poor sanitation, and inadequate hygiene—most of them children in low-income communities.

Clean water is more than a resource—it’s a lifeline. Without it, families face disease, malnutrition, and lost opportunities. Women and girls often bear the burden, walking long distances to fetch water, missing out on school and work.

At U-VOL Foundation, we believe health equity begins with access to water, sanitation, and hygiene. Through Project WASH, we bring reliable water systems, safe sanitation, and practical hygiene education to underserved communities—advancing global goals like clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), good health and well-being (SDG 3), and gender equality (SDG 5).

A Holistic Approach to WASH

Clean Water Access: Wells and Boreholes

We work closely with local leaders to install and rehabilitate solar-powered clean water systems, including boreholes and wells. Our approach prioritizes sustainable infrastructure, ensuring that each system is designed to last, including training provided to local community members on maintenance and care. These systems are powered using solar energy, offering a renewable, eco-friendly solution in areas where electricity is unreliable or unavailable.

Sanitation Infrastructure

We help build proper latrines and sanitation facilities to eliminate open defecation and prevent the spread of disease–particularly diarrheal illnesses, which remain a leading cause of death in young children.

Hygiene Education

We offer community workshops that teach simple, practical hygiene practices including handwashing with soap, food safety, safe water storage, and menstrual hygiene. These sessions equip people with the tools and knowledge to protect their health using the resources available to them.

Community Skill Building

Through training and education, we promote local ownership and long-term sustainability. We equip communities to govern, monitor, and maintain their water and sanitation systems and lead future WASH education efforts, building capacity that lasts well beyond our involvement.
